Grease a tray with butter (I used a 30/20 cm tray). Place half the amount of noodles in the pan. Grind the walnuts, grate the lemon peel. Mix the walnuts with the lemon peel and the vanilla sugar.
Spread half of this mixture evenly over the noodles. Place the other half of the noodles on top. Cut the pieces in half from the cube of butter and place it over the noodles. Sprinkle half the amount of raisins. Another layer of walnuts and raisins follows and at the end we add the noodles. Heat the oven.
Bake on medium heat for about 15-20 minutes until nicely browned. In the meantime, we're dealing with the syrup. Bring water to a boil, add the remaining butter and sugar and keep on the heat until it melts. Allow to cool and then add honey and lemon juice. Mix well. Pour the syrup over the contents of the pan and let the syrup be absorbed by the cake. Let cool and then portion.
